One week in CO and so far loving it!
Sharing about our first week of this Florida fam living in Colorado - from moving struggles to the great outdoors.
Life stuff (that you just can’t make up)
If you watched my YouTube video about prepping for our move, you may have noticed that the only furniture we shipped to CO was a coffee table, an armchair, a desk, and my Peloton (that counts because it has a seat, right?).
While on the road, Jared ordered a mattress (top priority) to be delivered to our new place. Unfortunately, it required a signature for delivery, so he opted to have it delivered the day after we arrived - which was then delayed four more days whomp whomp.
Did we already own an air mattress that could hold us over until then? Yes. Did we pack said air mattress in the pod that would arrive after us in CO? Also yes. So we obviously bought a new air mattress because we are too old to sleep on the floor. As I was filling it up on night one while sooooo freaking ready to be asleep after such a long week… it popped. YEP. Popped. Thank God for the little patches they provide which by some miracle made it hold air until we got our bougie air mattress back via our pod delivery. A few days later and we now have our even bougier regular mattress 🙌 I am def looking forward to fewer backaches!
Aside from the bed drama and a lack of seating basically anywhere in the house (I’ve eaten every meal standing up and have been using a yoga mat as my couch), we have thoroughly enjoyed our first week here. We’ve already had several adventures, to include playing on the red rocks at Garden of the Gods, hiking around a waterfall, and buying everything you can possibly buy at IKEA!
Recent binge-listens
Throne of Glass Series. Given that we drove over 24 hours last week AND my toddler rode in the other car the whole way, I was able to put in some serious audiobook time. I’ve listened to this series off and on for a while, but book three is where I really got hooked. It all starts with Celaena Sardothien, a trained assassin that was previously enslaved, competing to be the King’s champion (aka the person that would do his evil bidding) to win back her freedom. Things get WILD from there and I’m officially not reading anything else until I’ve finished all seven books.
What’s bringing me joy
Playing on nature’s playgrounds. We’ve been exploring some of Colorado Springs this week and I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to spend our entire mornings outside exploring. It’s the coolest thing ever to see my toddler (and doggo!) climb around on rocks and trails for funsies. Very excited about all of the adventures this next year will bring us 🏔️
